Fed: Camel, roo on the greenhouse menu

We have all been told about how we'll bike or ride in electric vehicles about town as climate change forces us to change the way we do things.

But little has been said about diet.

Some believe by 2020 we'll sit down to meals of .. roast camel and cold sliced kangaroo .. or chicken .. because beef will then be so expensive that it will become a special treat.

The forecast is based on the fact that one kilogram of beef .. or veal .. creates 24 kilos of greenhouse gasses.

Chicken and other poultry is much kinder to the environment .. resulting in less than one kilogram of greenhouse emissions.

Differences in levels of greenhouse gasses emitted in producing various meats:

* Beef and veal: 24kg

* Lamb and mutton: 16.8kg

* Pork: 4.1kg

* Poultry: 0.8kg
